SYNTHEMA and ERN-EuroBloodNet Launch Educational Programme on AI in Haematology
The SYNTHEMA project, in collaboration with ERN-EuroBloodNet, has launched an educational programme on artificial intelligence in haematology, delivered through a webinar series for both public and expert audiences.
The programme introduces key aspects of SYNTHEMA’s work, including synthetic data generation, federated learning, and data standardisation. It also addresses regulatory and ethical frameworks such as the Medical Device Regulation and the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act. These topics are presented in relation to rare haematological diseases, with reference to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia.
The webinar series will be delivered across four sessions in May. It will begin on 8 May with an introduction to the federated infrastructure for synthetic data generation within ERN-EuroBloodNet. The second session, on 15 May, will address regulatory and ethical frameworks, together with privacy-preserving approaches in federated learning. On 22 May, the focus will shift to data standardisation, interoperability, and synthetic data methodologies. The final session, scheduled for 29 May, will present applied use cases in Sickle Cell Disease and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
The programme has been developed by the SYNTHEMA Educational Scientific and Technical Committee.
