SYNTHEMA’s M6 Consortium Meeting: Advancing Work, Ethics, and Security
On the 8th and 9th May, the entire SYNTHEMA consortium gathered in Lisbon for our 6-month review meeting. This highly anticipated event served as a platform for members to showcase the progress made in their respective working packages (WP) and chart a roadmap for the upcoming six months of activity.
During the review meeting, ethics emerged as a pivotal subject at this stage of the project. Clinical members demonstrated their dedication by working diligently to secure approval from their respective ethical committees. This critical step ensures that data is utilized in a manner that is both safe and effective. Simultaneously, the team engaged in extensive discussions on security, recognizing the paramount importance of safeguarding data. Once ethical approval is obtained, it becomes imperative to implement robust preventive measures to ensure the secure handling and protection of data in an effective and efficient manner.
Significant strides have been made in the initial stages of developing the technical architecture and establishing data flows. Encouragingly, data simulations have already been conducted, yielding positive results. However, as with any complex undertaking, a few challenges have surfaced in the areas of data transfer and storage. Addressing these issues will be a priority before further progress can be made. By overcoming these challenges, SYNTHEMA aims to optimize data management processes and ensure smooth and reliable workflows.
